Terminal Art

2 min readIt’s hard to appreciate the design of an airport terminal when you’re rushing (or angrily waiting) for your flight. But we were struck by the strange beauty found in an exhibit recently featured in the Washington Post‘s Studio column. Artist Charles Cohan, an art professor and printmaker by trade, has repurposed the maps from the back of airline magazines into stark, geometric silhouettes. Hung up in the D.C. gallery Curator’s Office, they look like hieroglyphics from the future. We had a few images sent to us for a closer look.
This spiny terminal is Frankfurt.
And this stripey one is Atlanta.
