Avast, mateys, we’d be remiss if we didn’t tell ye that today is Talk Like a Pirate Day, yaar! (Pirates, although often crass, smelly, and generally disreputable, were still some of the savviest sailors on the seven seas…and therefore ardent travelers.) The LA Times Daily Travel & Deal Blog has a mighty great roundup of maritime museums in California who are taking doubloons for the big day. But because the day falls on a Friday this year, lads and lassies from around the world, from Alberta to Antarctica, are planning on extending the celebration all weekend long.
