(Shh, the Medieval Cesky Krumlov in the Czech Republic came in at #16.)

The results are in… but we wouldn’t want to spoil them for you. Our friends over at the Society’s Center for Sustainable Destinations helped us tally up the results of our fifth annual Destinations Rated Survey, and as always, there’s a lot to be learned from the list.

The list contains 109 historic destinations, ranked by a panel of 280 travel experts. The panel measured each destination based on a set of six criteria, and specifically looked at “how well historic places are withstanding mass tourism, neglect, ravages of nature, and wrecking balls–as well as the more subtle threat of overplaying the past, where a place ends up embalmed as a lifeless museum – or Disneyfied into a parody of its true heritage.”

Check out how your favorite, or least favorite, historic destination fared here, or look at past Destinations Rated Surveys here.
