Top Ten China

top-ten-china.jpgWe’ve got China on the brain these days, as our building is currently mobbed with tourists visiting the Terra Cotta Warriors exhibit downstairs. So when we saw that the good folks at National Geographic Books had come up with their list of top ten places to visit in China we felt inclined to share it. And, as a bonus, NG Books is offering $5 off their National Geographic Traveler: China 2nd Edition guidebook this week, so if you get inspired by the exhibit, pick up a copy and start planning a visit of your own.

I’ve visited 9/10 of those listed, the stone forest being the only exception, and would have to say that I disagree on Xi’an, Shanghai and Hong Kong island being included. I would replace them with Tiger Leaping Gorge, Yangshuo and Hangzhou. Shanghai is currently a building site and apart from shopping I can’t see any reason to visit Hong Kong, Xi’an may still be a walled city, but the amount of smog there makes it difficult to actually see anything.
