Putting HBO’s Treme on the Map

Fans of the new HBO series, Treme, which takes place in New Orleans during the aftermath of Katrina, can now learn more about the historic neighborhood with a new interactive map created by National Geographic.

In it, G.K. Darby, a local blogger who wrote for us here on Intelligent Travel about places to watch the Super Bowl, takes readers through the city, hitting spots like Lil Dizzy’s Cafe and Congo Square. He writes of the significance Treme has within the city: “As the people who built Treme disperse to other neighborhoods and cities, Treme became not just a neighborhood but a concept–the spiritual home for jazz and gumbo; ground zero for the African culture that powers New Orleans culture.”
