As a transplanted Oklahoman, I’m always interested in news from the Sooner state. So when I recently received a map featuring more than 500 events and attractions throughout the state that offer visitors a taste of farm life, I opened it up and took a look.

The map highlights the Oklahoma Agritourism program, which focuses on the family farm and other agricultural offerings. A quick look at my hometown of Yukon, a suburb of Oklahoma City, shows a listing for the Express Clydesdales Ranch, where you can see these massive animals up close. In nearby Bethany is a Children’s Center Farmers Market that features locally grown products and benefits the pediatric hospital. Oklahoma City has several worthy attractions, such as the famous Stockyards City, the largest stocker/feeder cattle market in the world (and a great place to see real cowboys), and the Rusty Gables Guest Lodge and Gallery (pictured), a log lodge with a Western art gallery and horseback riding trails.

Check out the Oklahoma Agritourism

website to see all the attractions or order a copy of the map.
