Dallas is a fantastic city but it’s easy to fall into the trap of ending up at the same place as the whole crowd – like the West End in downtown, for example. Lots of fun but WAAY to crowded. So here’s a short list of the best stuff in Dallas, which, luckily, are not usually mobbed:
Places to eat: Bolsa (probably the best meal I’ve ever had in my entire life), Cafe Brazil on Cedar Springs, Monica’s in Deep Ellum, and the Best Tacos in Texas (according to Texas Monthly Magazine) – Fuel City Tacos. It’s in a gas station in a scary-looking neighborhood, but 100,000% worth going. Good late-night munchies. Get the picadillo and the creamed corn.
Places to imbibe: Also Bolsa – get the Passion Whiskey Fizz if they still have it. Bar Belmont. JR’s (in the gayborhood, but lots of fun).
THE place to stay: Belmont Hotel. Neighborhood looks sketchy but it’s the best hotel in America. No kidding. Get the deluxe suite with the enormous bathtub.

I love golf the most in Dallas…that is when it’s not 36 degrees outside!
