The Radar: Easter Island’s Visitor’s Center, Edinburgh Festivals, Great Long Walks

  • Easter Island’s newly opened visitor’s center is a model of sustainability: the center was constructed with materials recycled from an existing structure, it’s powered by solar and wind energy and it uses recycled rainwater in the restrooms. The center is located near the entrance of the Orongo Ceremonial Village, one of the most significant archaeological sites in Rapa Nui National Park. [Dwell]
  • It’s all happening in Edinburgh this month. The Scottish city is hosting several festivals, many going on now through early September. Here are five festivals worth checking out. [Matador Network]

This is a beautiful photo! I can’t wait to see Easter Island myself when I backpack down that way! The colors in the background are amazing the way they just blend in together; it reminds me of when I was hiking along the Na Pali Coastline in Hawaii. The sunsets were remarkable!
