Live @NatGeoTravel Photo Workshop: October 2
Travel photography is, on the surface, a very simple endeavor. Go to a faraway place, stand in front of something you can’t see at home, and take a picture. What’s so hard about that? Well, that may well be the recipe for generations of boring family (or Facebook) albums.
Travel provides transformative experiences; it can even change your life. But how do you capture that kind of emotion with your camera? How do you go beyond showing what a place looks like to convey how it felt to be there?
Find out how to up your photography game when you’re exploring the world by joining Nat Geo Travel Director of Photography Dan Westergren for a live photo workshop on Thursday, October 2, in Washington, D.C.
Monica Corcoran, the managing editor of Your Shot, Nat Geo’s tight-knit photo-sharing community, will be joining Dan from our headquarters, along with stand-out Your Shot photographers from around the world.
What: Virtual Photo Workshop: How to Capture a Sense of Place
When: Thursday, October 2, starting at 1 p.m. ET
Where: Google Hangout On Air
During the Google Hangout On Air, Dan will take us down to one of the District’s most photogenic spots, the banks of the Potomac River in Georgetown, to demonstrate how travelers and locals alike can utilize light, composition, subject matter, and more to create memorable and meaningful photographs that transcend the run-of-the-mill snapshot.
How to Join: Use hashtag #PhotoWalkDC to participate in the Google+ Hangout in real time and to ask our panel of experts about travel photography, photo editing, and capturing an authentic sense of place. Submit your question ahead of time by leaving a comment below!
