As an American and a traveler who enjoys a bit of romance and tradition, I find the monarchy endlessly fascinating. The royals put on a show for their subjects, especially in England, where each castle and historic site shines with pomp and circumstance.
In honor of Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee (her 60th year as queen), this week’s #FriFotos theme is FIT FOR A QUEEN. To pay homage to history, we chose this image of the Victoria Memorial, the imposing monument erected in front of her royal London residence, Buckingham Palace, to honor the only other British monarch to earn the distinction. Queen Elizabeth II is celebrating her Diamond Jubilee this year, with key events taking place the first week in June. If you’re headed to England, you’ll soak up the spirit simply by walking the streets. But if you have to settle for being an armchair spectator, there are plenty of ways to join in from abroad.
